Tejashwi Yadav Set to Play His Third Hand from Raghopur, Filing Papers on Oct 15

The political stage in Bihar is heating up, and one of its biggest players, Tejashwi Yadav, is ready to make his move. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister is all set to contest from his political stronghold, the Raghopur constituency, for the third consecutive time. He will officially file his nomination papers on October 15.Why Raghopur is More Than Just a Seat for the Yadav FamilyFor the Yadav family, Raghopur is not just any assembly seat; it's a legacy. This is the very same constituency that launched the political careers of both of Tejashwi's parents—his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, and his mother, Rabri Devi.Lalu Prasad first won from Raghopur back in 1995, and then again in 2000. Following his victory, his wife, Rabri Devi, took over and won the seat in a 2005 by-election and held it until 2010. After a brief gap when JDU won the seat, Tejashwi Yadav brought it back into the family fold in 2015.Tejashwi's Unbeaten StreakSince making his political debut from Raghopur in the 2015 assembly elections, Tejashwi has remained undefeated here.In 2015, riding a massive victory wave as part of the 'Mahagathbandhan' (Grand Alliance), Tejashwi defeated BJP's Satish Kumar by a significant margin. This win also paved the way for him to become the Deputy Chief Minister in the Nitish Kumar-led government. In 2020, even when his party was in the opposition, Tejashwi managed to hold onto his seat comfortably, once again beating his BJP rival. Now, as the de facto leader of the RJD and the face of the opposition, Tejashwi is heading back to his trusted turf. Filing his nomination is more than just a formality; it’s a show of confidence and a signal to his party's supporters that the battle for Bihar has officially begun. All eyes will be on Raghopur to see if Tejashwi can score a hat-trick.
