UPEIDA Picks Builder for 6-Lane Bundelkhand Greenfield Corridor

In a major infrastructure and economic push for Uttar Pradesh's Bundelkhand belt, the construction of the Chitrakoot Link Expressway is scheduled to officially break ground this month. The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has finalized the competitive bidding process and selected MKC Infrastructure Limited as the concessionaire to execute the crucial arterial link. Developed under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model, the high-speed corridor will span 15.172 kilometers as a six-lane, fully access-controlled greenfield highway, bridging holy pilgrimage destinations with modern freight and industrial transit corridors across the state.MKC Infrastructure Secures EPC Contract: High-Level Committee Clears Financial TenderThe formal selection followed a rigorous multi-stage tendering process managed by UPEIDA that saw initial bids submitted by four prominent infrastructure firms. After comprehensive technical scrutiny, two construction entities met the qualification criteria during the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Bid Evaluation Committee review on October 29. The evaluation concluded on November 3 in an executive committee conference chaired by Alok Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department, where the financial envelopes of technically cleared firms were officially unsealed. MKC Infrastructure Limited emerged as the chosen developer after submitting the most competitive lowest bid (L1), clearing the path for immediate mobilization and physical ground execution.Seamless Travel to Delhi and Lucknow: Catalyst for Bundelkhand Defense and Industrial HubsBeyond slashing travel times, the greenfield link expressway will directly integrate Chitrakoot Dham with the broader state highway grid, offering uninterrupted, high-speed connectivity to Lucknow and the National Capital Region via the Bundelkhand Expressway and the Agra-Lucknow Expressway network. State economic planners anticipate that the enhanced access will catalyze investments into the regional nodes of the Uttar Pradesh Defense Industrial Corridor and designated manufacturing zones across Bundelkhand. By drastically cutting logistics overheads and easing tourist transit to spiritual landmarks, the project is positioned to stimulate localized commerce, spur social mobility, and unlock thousands of technical and construction employment opportunities throughout the district.
