Uttar Pradesh receives 6.18 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin; 99.55 percent of previously sanctioned houses have been completed

Referring to the 'Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana' (Chief Minister's Housing Scheme), Mr. Maurya stated that 5.88 lakh houses have been provided under this initiative so far. Of these, 1.30 lakh houses have been allocated to persons with disabilities, and over 70,000 houses have been provided to destitute widows. Priority has also been given to families from the Musahar and Vantangia communities, those affected by leprosy, tribal communities, and families impacted by natural disasters. He emphasized that the government's efforts extend beyond merely constructing houses. Along with the provision of housing, the government is ensuring access to electricity, gas connections, tap water, and toilets. Furthermore, through initiatives like 'VB-G-Ram-Ji' (a framework for livelihood and employment), the government is creating employment opportunities and integrating families into self-help groups to ensure sustainable livelihoods.Mr. Maurya noted that it is the Prime Minister's vision that every eligible, homeless family in the country should have a permanent roof over their heads. The Uttar Pradesh government is working with full commitment to translate this vision into reality. Efforts are being made to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach eligible individuals in a timely, transparent, and effective manner, ensuring that no deserving family is left without government assistance.Expressing his gratitude to the Union Ministry of Rural Development for entrusting Uttar Pradesh with the responsibility of hosting the workshop, Mr. Maurya remarked that the experiences and practical suggestions shared by various states would further improve the implementation of the scheme. He reiterated that providing permanent homes to the rural poor—including those who are currently homeless or living in makeshift, 'kaccha' houses—remains a top priority for both the central and state governments. The 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin' (PMAY-G), launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is serving as a foundation for security, dignity, and self-reliance in the lives of the poor. Mr. Maurya spoke with the beneficiary women about their living conditions both before and after receiving their homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Noting that the sanction letters had been issued and construction would begin soon, he listened as Smt. Sundarkali, a resident of Barabanki, shared her experience: "During the rainy season, we didn't even have space to cook or sleep; but now, my entire family eats in comfort and sleeps peacefully—thank you, Modi ji."
