
Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : The heavy downpour has halted the Char Dham Yatra at several stops. It has been temporarily suspended till better weather. Several routes have accumulated debris, but administrative staff are clearing it up.Sunday (May 31) saw disruption in normalcy in Uttarakhand due to intense rain and bad weather conditions. The Kedarnath Yatra was halted due to the same, stranding a lot of pilgrims at several transit points. Rivers and storm drains have been overflowing due to the relentless rainfall. A lot of debris had piled up at various points but administrative staff along with related agencies had been clearing the roads and debris from those locations. According to an alert given to Rudraprayag, Char Dham Yatra pilgrims were stopped at a safe place in Srinagar.At the instruction of District Magistrate, 400 vehicles stopped at NIT.The SDM of Srinagar, Nupur Verma said that by orders of the District Magistrate around 400 vehicles had been parked at NIT grounds and at Awas Vikas grounds from 10 AM.Later as the rain ceased and weather got better, the pilgrims were allowed to move further and take their respective vehicles. A lot of them were provided food and made comfortable in hotels until they moved further.Kedarnath Yatra stopped with immediate effect; orange alert declared in districtsThe Kedarnath Yatra was stopped immediately by the administration on the instruction from the Rudraprayag District Disaster Management authority based on a 'orange' alert by the Indian Meteorological Department, which had warned of very heavy rain and thunderstorms.Landslides have occurred on various paths in Rudraprayag district and a district disaster management officer Nandan Singh Rajwar told the people that police and district authorities were deployed at sensitive spots like Sonprayag, Gaurikund to restrict further pilgrim movement until the situation improved and assured that Police forces, DRRF, NDRF and SDRF forces were on alert.Uttarakhand: In last 24 hours the temperature was recorded well below normal.Finally as the weather began to improve and the rain began to reduce in its intensity the Char Dham Yatra's route to Kedarnath was opened for all the vehicles and pilgrims. They moved on at their destinations and the Char Dham Yatra continued.Several districts in Uttarakhand recorded rain on Sunday after 8:30 AM. Champawat (31 mm), Kaladhungi (27.5 mm), Ganai Gangoli (26 mm), Pithoragarh (13.7 mm), Mussoorie (5.2 mm). While maximum temperatures throughout Uttarakhand plains and mountains were recorded well below normal for the last 24 hours and were at comfortable level.Snowfall likely in the upper parts of Uttarakhand MondayDehradun on Sunday recorded a maximum and minimum temperature of 26.6 degrees and 17 degrees which was 9 and 5 degrees below normal respectively. Pantnagar recorded 32 degrees; Mukteshwar 14.8 degrees; New Tehri 18.6 degrees; Shrinagar 20.5 degrees.The evening forecast released by IMD said that areas at 3,800 mtr above sea level in Uttarakhand would likely receive snow on Monday. The state is expected to see widespread moderate rain and thunderstorms across many districts.The IMD also forecasted light to moderate rain and thunderstorms, with isolated snow, to hit Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh districts, and possibly other districts of Uttarakhand.
