Vietnamese EV giant VinFast is all set to disrupt the Indian electric two-wheeler segment. After making waves with its premium electric SUVs, the company has officially confirmed its plans to launch three electric scooters in India by the second half of 2026.With a massive investment of $2 billion (approx. ₹16,000 crore) pledged for its Tamil Nadu plant, VinFast is not just bringing products but a complete "green mobility ecosystem" to India. The India-Specific Strategy: Made for Our RoadsUnlike other global brands, VinFast is focusing on India-specific models. The company has conducted extensive research on Indian riding patterns, heat levels, and road conditions.Initially, these scooters will arrive as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units, but VinFast plans to achieve high localization soon to keep the prices competitive against leaders like Ola, Ather, and TVS.The Likely Contenders: Evo, Feliz, and ViperWhile the final names are yet to be announced, sources suggest the following three models are the top candidates for the 2026 launch:The Evo (The Range King): A neo-retro scooter expected to offer a massive range of up to 200 km on a single charge. It is likely to target the budget-conscious commuter. The Feliz S (The Practical Choice): Positioned as the "Activa" of the electric world, this model features a 3000W hub motor and a top speed of around 78-80 km/h.The Viper (The Sporty Performer): A high-performance scooter with a larger battery (approx. 4.8kWh) and a powerful motor, designed for those who want speed and style.Battery Swapping & V-Green InfrastructureOne of the biggest game-changers VinFast might introduce is its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model.Lower Upfront Cost: By selling scooters without the battery and offering it on a subscription, VinFast could launch a premium scooter at the price of a petrol one.Charging Network: Through its partner V-Green, VinFast is already expanding its free charging program in India, which will now include support for these upcoming scooters.Competition and Expected PricingThe Indian EV market is currently dominated by the Ola S1 series, TVS iQube, and Ather 450X. VinFast aims to bridge the gap between "affordable" and "premium."Expected price points for the lineup are rumored to start from ₹90,000 to ₹1.5 Lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the battery subscription plan.
