London: England appears to be facing a significant challenge heading into Day 2 of the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 against India. Star allrounder Chris Woakes is set to miss the remainder of the match due to a suspected shoulder dislocation. The injury occurred while he was fielding during the first innings of the fifth test. As Woakes was trying to chase the ball towards mid-off, his left hand seemed to slip on the wet outfield. To compound things, the 36-year-old landed on his shoulder and remained on the ground. Woakes was treated by a physio before walking back to the dressing room. While no comments were made on the potential severity of his injury, it does seem that Woakes is likely to get scans done overnight. Gus Atkinson opens up on Woakes’ injury Discussing the injury in detail, compatriot Gus Atkinson was the first to take the mic, and he said that while he does not know much, he deemed the 36-year-old’s injury to be quite serious. "I don't know too much about it, but it doesn't look great. It’s a big shame, last game of the series, and when anyone gets injured, it’s a shame."I hope it isn’t too serious, and whatever it is, he is going to get support from everyone,” Atkinson said, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo. Nair's 52 catches India past 200 against England in the first Test day 1 In the context of the 1st Test, it was apparent that England was dominating India as well as good portions of the match. India began the clash by batting first, and their openers were Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, with Jaiswal scoring 2 and Rahul scoring 14 runs. Shubman Gill's score of 21 and Sai Sudharsan’s 38 further deepened the visitors’ order problems. In those troubling times, Karun Nair came to India’s rescue with 52 runs not out in 98 balls as India concluded day 1 with 204/6.
