Bengaluru: A 29-year-old Nigerian woman by the name of Olajide Ester Ianuoluwa was arrested by Bengaluru’s Central Crime Branch (CCB) for hiding cocaine in loaves of bread. The CCB-CCB Anti-Narcotics Branch received a tip-off that led to the seizure of 121 grams of cocaine worth approximately Rs 1.2 crore. The drugs were hidden in the voids of the loaves of bread to alleviate the chances of detection in a standard search.Route of Smuggling: From Mumbai to BengaluruIt is alleged that the woman transported bread containing cocaine in it on interstate private buses. She is said to have received the illegal substance from a male in Mumbai and was told to custodian the drugs to a fellow Nigerian in Bengaluru to circumvent the risk of a postal hold.This is the first time the accused arrived in New Delhi last year on a student visa. She never attended any school. She then moved to the suburbs of Mumbai and to a place called Ghatkopar, Ambawadi, and Nalasopara, where she began a business in the selling of drugs.CCB officials received word of a possible meeting with a local drug buyer in Varthur, Bengaluru, which led to the police detaining her upon her arrival. From the data, a Nigerian buyer in the Varthur area was also detained and deported from India.The CCB confirmed that the operation is part of a continuing strategy to eliminate networks of international drug trafficking from India.
