
The July 25th 2025 edition of SmackDown opened with an emotional video tribute to Hulk Hogan who died recently at the age of 71. It was definitely an emotional tribute as WWE and world of wrestling lost one of its legends. The video featured iconic moments of ‘Hulkamania’ and at the start of the show ‘Triple H’ along with WWE legends and present wrestlers gave homage. Levesque stated how Hogan shaped the wrestling industry and one of a kind tribute video was shown after based on him and everything he had achieved. The video and the date being remembered meant a lot. The same date was used to mark the start for WWE’s Summer Slam as Cody Rhodes was given a speech to be made for his upcoming fight against John Cena. Cena was to fight him for the Undisputed WWE Championship and everyone was waiting for it eagerly. Currently the Wyatt Sicks were named the Tag Team Champions and they were being challenged by Andrade and Rey Fenix to fight for the title that they had recently won. They lost the title bout. The last thing on the agenda was a fight between Alex and Roxanne. For the Women’s Tag Team Championship, the feud still had a lot of untapped potential to in it. Jade Cargill was heard backstage telling and manhandling Chelsea Green as she was ‘fighting’ backstage walking her to the ring.Logan Paul was expected to appear in addition to segments involving Jelly Roll and Randy Orton's confrontation. Also, Jacob Fatu was scheduled to face The Miz. While formally paying tribute to Hulk Hogan, the evening also build up towards SummerSlam, successfully balancing the commemorative and the progressive.
