Yogi Government to Boost Agricultural Exports with 30% Freight Subsidy
In a significant move to promote the export of agricultural products from Uttar Pradesh, the state government has announced it will bear 30 percent of the export freight costs for horticultural products. This initiative, part of the Uttar Pradesh State Agricultural Produce Export Policy 2024, is aimed at making the state's agricultural goods more competitive in the international market and providing farmers with better access to global markets.Under this new policy, farmers and traders involved in exporting horticultural produce will receive a subsidy to cover a substantial portion of their transportation expenses. The government's decision is expected to particularly benefit producers of fruits, vegetables, and flowers by reducing the financial burden associated with logistics. This will, in turn, help in boosting the income of farmers across the state. The Yogi Adityanath-led government has been actively working to double farmer's income, and this policy is a key step in that direction. By encouraging exports, the government aims to create new avenues for agricultural growth, attract investment in the agri-export sector, and strengthen the overall rural economy. The subsidy is designed to incentivize the export of high-quality produce and establish Uttar Pradesh as a major hub for agricultural exports. The implementation of the policy will be overseen by relevant state departments, ensuring that the benefits reach the intended beneficiaries efficiently. This strategic intervention is poised to enhance the profitability of farming and contribute to the state's economic development by increasing its share in the global agricultural trade.
