Education in Uttar Pradesh just got a major boost. If you are a student or a parent in the state, this latest update from the Yogi government is something you shouldn’t miss. In a significant move to support students from backward classes, the government has decided to expand its scholarship program, bringing smiles to an additional 8 lakh students.Previously, around 30 lakh students were benefiting from this scheme. Now, for the financial year 2026-27, that number is set to jump to a total of 38 lakh. What’s Changing? The main reason for this expansion is the revision of the income limit. The government has raised the eligibility criteria to an annual family income of ₹2.5 lakh, allowing more families to qualify for financial aid.But that’s not the only good news. The scholarship amount itself has seen a hike. Students in the "Pre-Matric" (Purv Dasham) category will now receive ₹3,000, up from the previous ₹2,500. Backward Class Welfare Minister Narendra Kashyap made this announcement in Lucknow, emphasizing that the government’s goal is to ensure no eligible student is left behind.Tech-Savvy Reforms: A New App on the WayTo make the process even smoother, the government is working on a dedicated mobile app. Minister Asim Arun shared that this technology-driven system will help students track their scholarship status easily. One of the coolest features they are planning? Semester-wise payments. Currently, scholarships are given annually, which doesn't always align with college schedules. By moving to a semester-based system, the government hopes to provide more consistent financial support throughout the academic year. The VisionThe idea is simple: once a student qualifies for a scholarship, they should be able to complete their entire education without worrying about money. By creating a robust, transparent system, the UP government is trying to build a brighter future for its youth.
