The festive season in Uttar Pradesh is poised to start on a high note for about eight lakh government employees, as the Yogi Adityanath government is preparing to announce a Diwali bonus Following the precedent set by the central government, this annual financial gift is a much-awaited tradition.The move is expected to benefit a broad spectrum of the state's workforce. The proposal, currently being prepared by the Finance Department, is intended for non-gazetted employees, which includes staff in Group C and D categories, employees of government-aided educational institutions, and daily wage workers.Bonus and a Potential DA Hike on the CardsWhile the final announcement is yet to be made, the preparations signal good news for employees and their families ahead of the festival of lights.Expected Bonus: The bonus amount is expected to be capped at a maximum of₹7,000 per employee.Payment Method: A portion of the bonus is likely to be paid in cash directly into bank accounts, with the remainder credited to the employee's General Provident Fund (GPF) accountFinancial Outlook: This initiative is estimated to cost the state government over₹1,000 crore.Adding to the festive anticipation, there is also speculation about a hike in the Dearness Allowance (DA).The central government is expected to announce an increase soon, and it is widely anticipated that the UP government will follow suit.
