New Delhi: Young bowler Lucy Hamilton of Brisbane Heat has created history in the ongoing Women's Big Bash League in Australia. This star bowler has become the youngest player to take five wickets in the history of the tournament. Lucy caught the attention of the whole world with a brilliant spell (5-8) for Brisbane Heat against Melbourne Stars on Sunday at the age of just 18.

Lucy Hamilton dismissed all the major batsmen of Melbourne Stars. First of all, she bowled out India's wicketkeeper-batsman Yastika Bhatia (8 runs). After this, captain Annabel Sutherland (21 runs) also became her victim. Veteran Meg Lanning (13 runs) was also dismissed by Lucy. After dismissing Tess Flintoff (7 runs), Lucy also made India's all-rounder Deepti Sharma her victim.

The fast bowler conceded just 8 runs in her four-over spell and took 5 wickets. This included a maiden over as well. Lucy represented the Australia Under-19 team in two ODIs before this tournament. While she had a total of five wickets in the 2023 Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup campaign.

She broke West Indies captain Hayley Matthews' record of taking the youngest 5-wicket haul in the tournament's history. Earlier, in the 2017 WBBL, Hayley Matthews, playing for the Hobart Hurricanes, took 5-19 wickets in 3.4 overs at the age of 18 years and 296 days.

Due to Lucy's brilliant spell, the opposing team was not able to set a big target. Brisbane Heat achieved the target of 139 runs in 17.4 overs. The team achieved this target with six wickets and 15 balls to spare. Indian batsman Jemima Rodrigues played an important role in the success of the Heat, who scored 45 runs in 31 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes.
