Marburg Virus Outbreak: After Corona, another dangerous virus has created havoc in the world. The name of this virus is Marburg virus. This dangerous virus has so far killed more than 12 people in Rwanda, due to which people's concerns have increased.
The Marburg virus was first identified in 1967 by a laboratory worker in Marburg, Germany. It belongs to the same family as the Ebola virus. It is a viral hemorrhagic fever that causes fatal bleeding and organ failure. Hence, it got its name Marburg virus. This highly contagious and often fatal hemorrhagic fever, which causes the virus, is a current health threat, and experts have warned that if it is not controlled in time, this virus can trigger another major pandemic like the COVID-19 virus. In such a situation, let us know about this virus-
- What is Marburg virus-
According to doctors, the Marburg virus is more dangerous than COVID-19. The death rate in Covid was around 2 percent, but the death rate in this virus is 70 to 90 percent. Marburg virus mainly spreads from animals to humans, it is 'zoonotic'. It is an infectious disease. This infection spreads from bats to humans. Then it spreads from one person to another. This virus is believed to be from the Ebola family. It spreads by coming in direct contact with the blood, vomit, saliva, and bodily fluids of the infected person. However, this virus does not spread in the air.
In a statement released earlier this week, Rwandan health officials said they would launch a vaccine study against Marburg hemorrhagic fever, which has so far killed more than 12 people.
- How does the virus enter the body?
The transmission process of the Marburg virus is exactly like that of the Ebola and COVID-19 viruses. The virus spreads primarily through direct contact with infected bodily fluids, such as blood, saliva, and vomit. This can happen through direct contact with infected individuals, or when another person comes in close contact with objects that the infected person has used or touched. This virus is considered the most dangerous virus in the world.
Symptoms of Marburg virus-
- High fever
- severe headache
- Muscle pain

- Cough
- sore throat
- Stomach ache
- Jaundice
As the disease becomes more severe, bleeding occurs from various body orifices, including the nose, mouth, eyes, and genitals. This bleeding can be severe and life-threatening.
