India's young batsman Tilak Verma entered his name in the record books on Saturday. He became the first player to score three consecutive T20 centuries. Hyderabad captain Tilak Verma achieved this historic feat in the first match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Meghalaya at Saurashtra Cricket Stadium C. Where he scored an unbeaten 151 runs in just 67 balls. This is the highest individual score in T20 by an Indian male cricketer.
Tilak's explosive innings included 14 fours and 10 towering sixes. With which he led Hyderabad to a strong score. His innings have surpassed Shreyas Iyer's previous record of 147 runs. Which was the highest score by an Indian in T20. Batting at number three, Tilak completed his half-century in 28 balls and he had to face only 51 balls to score a century.
This century is the third time in just 10 days that he has crossed the three-digit mark in the shortest format. Tilak's brilliant form began with India's recent T20 tour of South Africa. Where he scored two consecutive centuries in Centurion and Johannesburg to help India win the series 3-1.
By doing so, he became the second Indian batsman after Sanju Samson to score consecutive T20 centuries. With this latest achievement, Tilak is just 50 runs away from completing 3000 runs in his T20 career. During this time he has also scored four centuries. The specialty of his performance has been that along with handling the innings, he also scores runs as fast as he wants.
Due to this, he has become an important player in both domestic and international setups. Tilak's exploits in franchise cricket have not gone unnoticed. He was one of the five players retained by Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
