India-China Border: After the meeting of PM Modi and Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS conference in Russia, India, and China have started withdrawing troops from the conflict points in Depsang and Depsang plains in eastern Ladakh. But here it is important to understand that according to Indian Army sources, the recent agreements will be applicable only in the Depsang and Demshak areas, they will not affect other disputed areas. Soldiers of both sides will return to their old places where they were deployed before April 2020, and they will patrol the same areas where they used to do till then.

The number of troops was determined.

Not only this, the number of soldiers has been fixed and both sides will inform each other to avoid any misunderstanding during patrolling. Temporary structures like sheds and tents will be removed in these areas and the area will be monitored by both sides.

In Demchok and Depsang plains

A few days ago, an agreement was reached between the two countries regarding the withdrawal of troops and patrolling near the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh, which is a major breakthrough towards ending the deadlock that has been going on for more than four years. Sources said that the withdrawal of troops from the confrontation points in the Demchok and Depsang plains has started.

 The deal was finalized.

Relations came under strain after a fierce clash between the soldiers of the two countries in the Galwan Valley in June 2020. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told reporters in Delhi on October 21 that the agreement was finalized after talks held in the last few weeks and this would resolve the issues that arose in 2020.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping had endorsed the agreement reached on the withdrawal of troops and patrolling along the LAC in eastern Ladakh in their bilateral talks on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia on October 23. Referring to India's consistent stand on the East Ladakh dispute, Misri told media persons in Kazan after the bilateral meeting that the restoration of peace in the border areas will pave the way for the normalization of bilateral relations.
