Haryana Assembly Elections Results: A day after facing a crushing defeat in the Haryana elections, a delegation of senior Congress leaders including KC Venugopal, Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Khera, and Ajay Maken met the office of the Election Commission of India in Delhi. Congress had complained about irregularities during the counting of votes in the election results of Haryana. In this matter, a delegation of Congress leaders met the Election Commission officials in Delhi. In this meeting, Congress has demanded the sealing of EVMs in 20 seats of Haryana.
What did Congress say after the meeting?
After the meeting, Congress leader Pawan Khera said that the party has demanded the Election Commission to seal the voting machines against which they have lodged complaints. Khera said, 'We will send more complaints in the next 48 hours.' He said that they have collected documents related to alleged irregularities in 20 constituencies and plan to release them to the media.
He said, 'There are 13 more constituencies for which we are collecting data to submit to the Election Commission. The party is waiting for the Commission's response to its demands. The Election Commission today, in a letter addressed to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, took note of the statements of Congress leaders and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, who described the results of the Haryana elections as 'unexpected' and proposed to analyze the survey.
The letter read, 'Proceeding on the fair assumption that the statement of the party president is the formal position of the party on the election result, the ECI has agreed to meet the delegation at 6 pm today.' Earlier, Rahul Gandhi in a post on X had hinted at a possible meeting with the Election Commission in an attempt to lcomplain aboutthe alleged malfunctioning of EVM machines.
