Jammu & Kashmir Grenade Attack: Terrorist attacks are increasing again in Jammu and Kashmir. A major grenade attack took place in Srinagar on Sunday (November 3, 2024). Officials said that on Sunday (November 3), terrorists threw grenades in the crowded scrap market in the middle of the city. Five people were injured in this attack. The explosion spread panic in the area and shopkeepers started running here and there to hide.
The attack, which took place near the heavily guarded Tourist Reception Centre (TRC), comes a day after security forces killed a top Pakistani commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) in the right-handKhanyar area of Srinagar city. Police and paramilitary forces have been rushed to the spot to rescue the injured and launch a search operation to nab the militants, officials said.
After the blast, security forces along with medical teams immediately reached the spot. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. A search operation has been launched to search for the terrorists. More information is awaited.
What did IGP say?
The grenade attack comes a day after security forces gunned down a top Pakistani terrorist belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba in Srinagar. Inspector General of Police (IGP) VK Birdi told ANI that security forces have gunned down a terrorist, identified as Usman. He was a commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and 4 security personnel have been injured. He is a foreign terrorist and his role and involvement in the killing of Inspector Masroor has come to light and further investigation is being carried out in this regard.
Usman was also the right hand man of Pakistan-based TRF commander Sajjad Gul. The Resistance Front (TRF) is considered a shadow organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Two encounters took place in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, one in Khanyar, Srinagar, and the other in Halkan Gali, Anantnag. While Lashkar commander Usman was killed in the Srinagar encounter, two terrorists were killed in the Anantnag encounter.
