PM Modi US Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a three-day visit to the United States, is scheduled to address an Indian community event in New York on Sunday (September 22). A large number of Indian community members have gathered at the Long Island event titled 'Modi and US', which will also feature cultural performances.
Before the event, the Nassau Coliseum was bustling with activity as Indians gathered with 'Welcome Modi' posters in various languages. Groups of artists also performed traditional Indian dance forms at the venue. More than 500 artists are set to showcase their talent as soon as the event begins.
What did PM Modi say?
The Prime Minister arrived in New York today after attending the Quad leaders' meeting in Delaware hosted by Joe Biden on Saturday (September 21). Sharing his excitement at the Indian community event on Saturday, PM Modi tweeted, “The Indian community has distinguished itself in the United States, making a positive impact in various fields. It is always a pleasure to interact with them.”
He said, 'On Sunday, September 22, at around 9:30 pm Indian time, Modi and America will organize a program in New York City. I will address this program. Let us celebrate the relationship that connects our countries.' The summit of Quad leaders was held on Saturday in Wilmington, the hometown of US President Biden, where many topics ranging from security cooperation to technology sharing were discussed. During the summit, the Prime Minister, in an indirect reference to China, emphasized the rule-based international order and respect for sovereignty.
The summit was attended by Prime Minister Modi, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, with whom PM Modi also held one-on-one discussions.
