Manipur Violence: The situation in Manipur has started deteriorating once again. In such a situation, the National People's Party has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party has failed to improve the situation. The National People's Party (NPP) has also announced to withdrawal of support from the BJP. At the same time, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held an important meeting with senior officials in Delhi given the situation. During this meeting, the security situation in Manipur was reviewed amid the latest cases of violence in the state. He will reportedly hold a detailed meeting with the officials tomorrow at noon.
The development comes after a curfew was imposed in Imphal wWestand eEastand internet services were suspended in seven districts as fresh protests broke out in the Valley districts against the killing of six people whose bodies were found in Jiribam after they were allegedly abducted by Kuki militants. The curfew was imposed after mobs attacked the residences of several MLAs and destroyed property.
Three women and three children staying at a relief camp went missing after a gunfight between security forces and militants in the Jiribam district on Monday, with Meitei organizations alleging that militants had abducted them. On November 11, a group of militants attacked a police station in the Borobekra area but security forces foiled the attack, resulting in the killing of 11 militants.
While retreating, the militants allegedly abducted three women and three children of a family from a relief camp near the police station. The bodies of those abducted by the militants were found when a massive operation was launched to trace them.
